Booked a Package Holiday? Don't Forget the Airport Transfer
Your travel agent planned the flights, hotel and tours. Here is how to get from Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch to the airport without the stress.
Many of the people we drive to the airport have booked an organised trip: a package holiday, an escorted tour, a fly-cruise or a trip planned from start to finish by a travel agent. Flights, hotels, excursions and resort transfers are all arranged.
The one part usually left to you is the journey from your front door to the airport, and back again when you come home.
Why the trip to the airport matters
Organised holidays run to a timetable. Miss the flight and the tour group, the cruise ship or the first night's hotel may leave without you. That makes the drive to the airport the part of the holiday where you least want surprises.
Your options from Dorset
- Drive and park. Fine for a short trip, but long-stay parking for one or two weeks adds up, and you face the drive home after a long flight.
- Train or coach. Cheaper, but with luggage it can mean changes, early starts and a walk at each end. Our guide to Bournemouth to Heathrow by train, coach or taxi compares them.
- A pre-booked car. Collected from your door at a time that suits your check-in, with a fixed price agreed in advance.
What to tell us when you book
- Your flight number and departure time, so we plan the pickup around check-in.
- How many people and suitcases, and anything bulky such as golf clubs or a pushchair.
- Your return flight. We track it and meet you in arrivals, with 60 minutes' free waiting after landing.
Travelling as a group
Many organised trips are booked by families or groups of friends. A large MPV or Mercedes V-Class takes up to seven people and their luggage in one vehicle, so everyone arrives together. See group travel and family transfers.
Cruise holidays
If your package starts at Southampton rather than an airport, we cover the cruise terminals too. See cruise transfers.
