Tour ideas from Bournemouth, Poole and Southampton
Every tour is private and can be changed to suit you. Times are typical driving times from Bournemouth; we confirm the exact plan when we quote.
Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast
About an hour north to Stonehenge for the stones and the visitor centre, then back south across the chain ferry to Studland for Fort Henry and the clifftop walk to Old Harry Rocks. A full day that takes in prehistory and the start of the Jurassic Coast. When the Sandbanks ferry is closed for maintenance we go round by Wareham, which adds about half an hour.
Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door
The castle ruins and the village at Corfe, then on to Lulworth Cove and the walk over the hill to Durdle Door. Allow time for the steep path down to the beach. A good full day, or a long half day if you skip lunch.
Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge
Salisbury is about 45 minutes away. See the cathedral and its copy of Magna Carta, have lunch in the city, then a short drive to Stonehenge for the afternoon.
The New Forest
Ponies on the open heath, lunch in Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst or Burley, and Beaulieu for the National Motor Museum and the abbey. An easy half or full day, about 35 minutes from Bournemouth.
Family days out
A day out with the children without the drive, the parking or the queue to get out of the car park at closing time. Child seats are fitted free. The small MPV is ideal for a family of four with a pushchair, and the V-Class takes up to seven. Typical driving times from Bournemouth:
- Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, near Romsey: about 40 minutes.
- Monkey World, near Wareham: about 40 minutes.
- The Tank Museum at Bovington: about 40 minutes.
- Marwell Zoo, near Winchester: about 50 minutes.
- Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire: about 1 hour 20 minutes.
- LEGOLAND Windsor: about 1 hour 45 minutes, a long but popular day.
Book your park tickets directly with the attraction. We drop you at the entrance, and collect you at closing time or whenever the little ones have had enough.
From a cruise ship at Southampton
Stonehenge and Salisbury or the New Forest both fit comfortably into a port day. Tell us your ship and your all-aboard time and we plan the day back from it. For transfers only, see cruise transfers.
Questions, answered
How much does a private tour cost?
Each tour has one fixed price for the day, based on the hours, the distance and the car. It covers the driver, fuel, parking, ferry tolls and waiting. Send us your plan and we reply with the price before you book.
Are entrance tickets included?
No. Entry to places like Stonehenge, Corfe Castle or Beaulieu is paid separately. We recommend booking Stonehenge tickets in advance, as time slots sell out.
Is the driver a tour guide?
Our drivers know the area well and are happy to suggest stops and places to eat, but they are chauffeurs rather than qualified tour guides.
Can you pick us up from our hotel or cruise ship?
Yes. We collect from hotels and holiday lets in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, and from the cruise terminals at Southampton.
Do you do family days out to theme parks?
Yes. Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, Monkey World, Marwell Zoo, Longleat and LEGOLAND Windsor are all popular. Child seats are fitted free; park tickets are booked separately with the attraction.
How many people can come?
Up to three in the estate or E-Class, four in the small MPV, two in the S-Class and seven in the Mercedes V-Class. For larger groups we send more than one car.
Can we change the plan on the day?
Yes. Tell the driver. If the change adds time or distance, we confirm any extra cost with you before going ahead.
