Stress-Free Family Airport Transfers: A Parent's Checklist

Getting a family to the airport is a logistics exercise: car seats, the pram, the bags, the snacks, and at least one child who needs the loo the moment you set off. A family transfer done properly takes most of that off your shoulders — here's how to get it right.

Sort the car seats when you book, not on the day

The single most important thing: tell us each child's age and weight when booking, and we'll have the right seats — infant carrier, toddler seat or booster — fitted free and ready. You're welcome to bring your own if you'd rather; just let us know so we leave room.

Boot space is the other half of the job

A family of four with cases, a pram and a travel cot needs more than a standard saloon. We'll match the vehicle to the load — often an estate or a 7-seat MPV — so nothing ends up on someone's lap. Check the fleet for luggage capacities.

A driver who actually helps

Our drivers help with the bags and the loading — it's not an extra, it's just how we work. For a parent juggling a toddler and a passport, that help at the kerb is worth a lot.

Timing with kids in mind

• Build in a buffer. We recommend leaving a little earlier than a solo traveller would, so a nappy change or a lost shoe doesn't derail the plan.
• Early flights? The roads are quietest before dawn, which — counterintuitively — often makes the early run the calmest with children asleep in their seats.
• Book the return too. Landing back tired with overtired kids is exactly when a pre-arranged driver is worth most.
