Early Morning Flights: How to Make a 4am Airport Pickup Stress-Free

Most of the popular holiday flights from the UK depart before 8am — which means leaving BCP at 4am or even earlier. That's a lot of alarms, a lot of bleary-eyed family members, and a lot of things that can go wrong in the dark.

After years of running early-morning pickups, here's our checklist for making a dawn departure genuinely stress-free.

The night before

• Pack, then sleep. Don't leave packing to the morning. Tired brains forget passports.
• Charge everything. Phones, laptops, kids' tablets — plug them all in overnight.
• Lay out travel documents in one place. Passports, boarding passes, booking confirmations. Print backups if you're nervous.
• Confirm your pickup time with your driver. A good transfer operator will message you the night before with the driver's name, vehicle and exact pickup time.
• Check your terminal. Airlines occasionally change terminals at short notice.
• Set two alarms. One on your phone, one across the room. Two hours before pickup is usually right.

The morning of
